Well, hello summer! Half way through the year and that means just one thing, we now have our second Pride in the Project award won! It’s great to see that everyone is stepping up and really delivering fantastic results on every audit, making our job very hard to pick a winner! This was a hard-fought battle and we were lucky enough to be in a fortunate position; where we had several jobs that were in the running. So much so, rather than a winner and runner up, we decided we could not split the top two jobs and now have joint winners! Read on to find out who…

The sun has finally arrived and gives us all a little spring in our step, however we are aware the heat has at times been unbearable… With that in mind and without us sounding too boring, please remember to re-hydrate and use lotion! Although it doesn’t feel like it on the ground, we have won a considerable amount of work surpassing our target year to date… Whilst we love hitting a target, we can’t help feeling like we’d like for some of this work to start! We are noticing more and more the phones ringing with people looking for work, so is this slowdown of work Brexit related, or is the usual peaks and troughs of the business? Only time will tell.

New Contracts won…

Weston Homes – Abbotts Site – Blocks 3 & 4: We have now secured the next to RC frame blocks, which are the final phase to the Dartford site. If they go up as quick as the last few, we can see us being wrapped up by Christmas!

RedRow Homes – Meadow View, Silver End: Silver End is a unique village, which was created by window maker, Francis Crittall, to house his factory workers in the 1920s. The stunning art deco architecture of the ‘modern movement’ can be seen throughout the historic village centre, including the magnificent village hall, one of the largest in the country. This collection of three and four bedroom homes near Braintree offer a classic design just east to the village.

Bellway Essex – Willow Park, Halstead and Victoria Road, Chelmsford: Two unique collections of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes all with various finishes and distinct Bellway touch.

Weston Homes – Skyway House: A new £40million serviced office complex and expanded headquarters for housebuilder Weston Group is to be built in Stansted. Once complete in 2021, the site will provide 95,000 sqft of office space in two twin buildings. The multi-million project is the result of Weston Group’s ongoing expansion, accommodating the staffing and resourcing needed so that the company can implement its future growth plans. Located off Parsonage Road, close to Stansted Airport, there will be a newly built head office building, alongside a refurbished existing building.

With June completed, we can now disclose our second quarter winners! Drum roll please… Joint winners – Vallance Road and Welwyn Garden City. Over the last 6 months, these jobs have been consistently high-ranking jobs; with only a couple of paperwork issues losing them a point or two. Therefore, they now share the total winnings of £700. Other jobs that were mentioned were Abbotts Site, Hall Road, Southminster, Devonshire Place and Ferry Lane. Keep up the good work lads!

So now we reset and commence the third quarter. Remember, keep up the good work and your job could be next to receive the winnings! As a rule, the winning job will win £500 and the runner up £250. So, if you want in on this, you need to be making sure your scores stay high. Let’s not lose silly points wearing incorrect PPE, or forgetting to sign in and out, dirty vans etc.

New Sway Bracing Policy

As of now, any new jobs are to implement single-bay sway bracing at a maximum of every fifth bay… For further clarification, please contact the health and safety department.
